David's mission call June 2009

We didn't expect David's call the day it came. The postman calls ahead to tell you. Well no call so we thought we had another week. Blake and Sheralle had planned to take Britt's kids to Cherry Hill, and they were counting on it. So we find out in the afternoon, Sheralle ran to the store and bought tons of food - knowing how many friends David has, we just bought allot. He didn't know his call had come until he got home from work. Which left him just a couple of hours to get everyone there. He had somewhere to be later- a party for a friend or something, so we didn't have any idea how many would make it in a few hours. We took the girls to Cherry Hill for a few hours and then ran home for the party. We had the first group of people put their guesses of where he was going.
Luckily it was in the summer so we had a place to put everyone. Here is a small group of the people. David didn't have a group of friends he hung out with. David was friends with everyone. He had friends in all circles, he just has something about him that people love. David is a people person. Even when I run into people at school-students, teachers, counselor's, anyone even if they don't know I am David's Mom they talk about how much the love him.
There were more people there than we have pictures of, we were glad he had so many there, it meant allot to him.

He was way excited to go the Independence Missouri Mission. He wanted to stay in the United States he said "so he could spend more time teaching than trying to learn a language." He got his wish. Not because we are his parents but just because it is true, David has been preparing his whole life to be a missionary. He truly loves the Lord, he loves His children, and he almost always just looks for the good in others and in life itself. He is a walking missionary even to our family with the way he lives. We know he won't miss us too much it's just how he is. "Go and Do" that's David.

We are so happy that his desire to serve was based on his own testimony and not social or family expectations.
